Darren Santiago, an 18-year-old from Jennings, Missouri, was tragically shot and killed on February 17, 2021. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning near the Mally Supermarket on West Florissant Avenue in St. Louis County. A City of Country Club Hills police officer discovered Santiago suffering from multiple gunshot wounds while patrolling the area. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, Santiago succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
