On a tragic day in the spring of 2020, a young man's life was cut short in St. Louis, Missouri. Tyler Michael Schemkes, a 23-year-old male from O'Fallon, was killed on Sunday, May 31, 2020. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Jenaiah.
That day, amidst a weekend marked by a surge of violence across the city, police received a call about a shooting on the 2700 block of N. 10th Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a devastating scene.
Inside a car were two men, both of whom had been fatally shot. One was identified as Tyler Schemkes, and the other as 25-year-old Willie Johnson of St. Louis.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division was called in to take over the investigation into the double homicide. To this day, the case remains unsolved. Detectives are still actively seeking information from the public that could lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for the deaths of the two young men. No suspects have been publicly named, and no arrests have been made in the years following the incident.
