In the Greater Ville neighborhood of St. Louis, on the evening of February 24, 2023, a shooting shattered the quiet on the 4400 block of Ashland Avenue. Responding to the call shortly before 6 p.m., officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department arrived to find a tragic scene. Inside a vehicle, they discovered two victims of gunfire. Twenty-one-year-old Tyrell Survillion, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 17-year-old female who was with him was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
The homicide investigation that followed led to the identification of a suspect. Months later, in July 2023, an arrest was made in connection with the fatal shooting. Marquese Moore, a 23-year-old man, was taken into custody and faced serious charges for his alleged role in the incident.
Prosecutors charged Moore with first-degree murder for the death of Tyrell Survillion. In addition to the murder charge, he was also charged with first-degree assault related to the injuries sustained by the teenage girl and two counts of armed criminal action. Following the charges, Moore was ordered to be held in custody without bond as the legal proceedings against him commenced.
