William N. Campbell, a 41-year-old sergeant with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, tragically lost his life on May 30, 1979, in Saint Louis, Missouri. On that fateful day, Sergeant Campbell was walking out of the 6th District Police Station on West Florissant Avenue when he was shot and killed by a suspect who had been detained in a police car.
