In the days leading up to Christmas, a senseless act of violence claimed the life of 57-year-old Kenard Wells, a male resident of Saint-Louis, MO. On December 23, 2021, police were called to an apartment building in the 5300 block of Harney Avenue in the Mark Twain neighborhood just before 2 p.m. Inside, they discovered a grim scene. Wells had been fatally shot inside one of the apartments.
The tragedy did not end there.
In an alley near the building, officers found two other victims who had also been shot to death. They were later identified as 63-year-old Gilbert Evans and 61-year-old Marsha McFerrin. All three victims, including Wells, were pronounced dead at the scene, casting a dark shadow over the holiday season for their families and the community.
In the wake of the triple homicide, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division launched an investigation. However, details about a possible motive or any potential persons of interest have not been released to the public. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murders of Kenard Wells, Gilbert Evans, and Marsha McFerrin. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation, leaving a community to mourn and await justice.
