Albert Ross III, a 26-year-old African American male from Lorain, Ohio, tragically passed away on January 4, 2017. He was born on June 7, 1990, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Lorain with his family. Albert was known affectionately as "Boss" or "Gucc" by his friends and family. He was a graduate of Southview High School and attended Lorain County Community College.
Albert was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Philadelphia 76ers, and enjoyed playing basketball, Jet Skiing, and video games.
On the night of his death, Albert was at a residence in the 3300 block of Reid Avenue with several other people, including Vincent Eugene Lee II. Around 1 a.m., an unknown caller reported that a man had been shot. When police arrived at the scene, they found Albert Ross III deceased. The Lorain police detectives were called to investigate the incident.
Vincent Eugene Lee II, a 31-year-old resident of Stonepath Street in Lorain, was charged with Albert's murder. According to authorities, Lee fled the area shortly after the shooting and remained at large for about four years. In January 2021, Lee was arrested and indicted on three counts of murder, each with different legal specifications, including felonious assault, assault, and tampering with evidence. Lee has been held in the Lorain County Jail on a $2 million bond since his arrest. As of now, Lee is awaiting trial, with a jury trial scheduled for June 21, 2022.
The case has seen several pretrial hearings, and discussions of a plea deal have been ongoing between the state and Lee's attorneys. However, no agreement has been reached so far. The community continues to seek justice for Albert Ross III, whose life was cut short at the age of 26.
Albert is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and the community for his genuine kindness, wonderful sense of humor, and love of life. He leaves behind his children, Aubrey Ariana Ross, Albert Ross IV, and Morgan Elise Ross, as well as his mother, Karen Bodiford, and his siblings.
