Victoria 'Tori' Manisco, a 26-year-old Asian woman, was a talented actress with a passion for theater, living in the Carondelet neighborhood of South Saint Louis, Missouri. On the evening of August 10, 2021, after leaving a rehearsal that had filled her with joy, she began her journey home. Little did she know, she was being followed. As she reached the sanctuary of her own porch, she was violently attacked and shot. Her body was discovered the following morning, August 11, 2021, a devastating end to a life brimming with creative promise. Tori was known for her vibrant spirit and her dedication to social justice, making her sudden and brutal death a profound shock to her family, friends, and the local community that admired her work on stage.

The investigation into Tori's murder moved swiftly. Just two days later, on August 12, 2021, authorities apprehended 18-year-old Prinshun McClain in Granite City, Illinois. During the investigation, it was revealed that McClain had no prior connection to Tori. He confessed in court that he had followed her after she got off a bus with the intention of robbing her, a confrontation that tragically escalated to him shooting her. McClain's arrest also connected him to the murders of a mother and daughter, Terri Bankhead, 27, and Da'Nilya Edwards, 8, in a separate incident that was part of a string of violent crimes.

In November 2022, a jury found Prinshun McClain guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action for the death of Victoria Manisco. The court handed down a sentence of life in prison, which is calculated at 30 years, for the murder charge, with an additional 15 years for the armed criminal action charge, to be served consecutively. During the sentencing, Tori's mother, Barbara, shared poignant details of her daughter's life, including her adoption from China after being found abandoned on a bridge, highlighting the incredible journey of a life cut short. The judge, in his sentencing, referenced this difficult start to Tori's life as he addressed McClain. While the jury convicted McClain for Tori's murder, they were unable to reach a verdict on the charges related to the deaths of Terri Bankhead and her daughter, with those cases remaining pending.
