In August of 2021, the life of 37-year-old Santos R. Jackson came to a violent end in a residence in St. Joseph, Missouri. Authorities were called to a home on North 9th Street to investigate a possible homicide. Upon their arrival, they discovered a disturbing scene that included the presence of blood and cleaning agents, which prompted them to secure a search warrant. Inside the home, they found the body of Santos Jackson.
An investigation would later reveal that he had sustained a single gunshot wound to the back of his head.
The grim discovery led investigators to 24-year-old Tucker James Autenrieth, who resided at the home where Jackson's body was found. According to statements Autenrieth made to the police, the tragic events unfolded after Jackson arrived at the residence armed with a. 45 pistol and a confrontation ensued. Autenrieth claimed that as Jackson attempted to enter the home, he struck him in the back of the neck with a machete, causing him to fall to the ground and drop his weapon. As Jackson crawled towards the fallen firearm, Autenrieth stated that he began kicking him in the head and body. He then picked up the gun and fired a single, fatal shot to the back of Jackson's head. In an attempt to conceal the crime, Autenrieth wrapped the victim's body in plastic and used bleach to clean the scene.
Following the investigation, Tucker James Autenrieth was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Santos Jackson. In October of the following year, Autenrieth pleaded guilty to the charge. Subsequently, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the killing. Under the terms of his sentence, he will be required to serve 85 percent of his time before becoming eligible for parole.
