On October 27, 2024, 30-year-old Melchizedek Judah "Mel" Fitzgerald was fatally shot at his residence on South 14th Street in St. Joseph, Missouri. The St. Joseph Police Department reported that two other individuals, both 20-year-old men from Kansas, sustained critical injuries during the incident. One was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital, while the other was treated at Mosaic Life Care.
