In the early morning hours of November 28, 2021, the life of 25-year-old Jabin Michael Bullock was tragically cut short in his hometown of Saint Joseph, Missouri. A male resident of the city, Bullock was at The Ridge Apartments on Riverside Road when a dispute escalated into fatal violence. The incident unfolded around 3:30 AM, shattering the quiet of the morning and leaving a community in mourning.
Bullock sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be insurmountable, and he passed away.
Born and raised in Saint Joseph, Jabin Bullock was a familiar face to many in the community. He had attended Lafayette High School and was an employee at Triumph Foods. Known to be of the Christian faith, he was a father to his daughter, Kingsleigh. His family, including his mother, Chonte' Bullock, and father, Benjamin Eckert, were left to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
The investigation into Bullock's death, led by the St. Joseph Police Department, quickly identified a suspect. Myia Weston, a 27-year-old woman also from St. Joseph, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. According to witness accounts, Weston and Bullock had been engaged in an argument outside the apartment complex. The verbal altercation reportedly escalated to a physical confrontation, culminating in Weston allegedly retrieving a gun from her vehicle and shooting Bullock in the chest.
Following the investigation, Myia Weston was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action for her alleged role in Jabin Bullock's death. Her arraignment was scheduled in Buchanan County shortly after the incident, marking the beginning of legal proceedings in a case that brought sorrow and shock to the Saint Joseph community.
