On August 6, 2018, a violent sequence of events unfolded just north of downtown Saint Joseph, Missouri, shattering the summer quiet and ultimately claiming a life. Emergency responders were called to the scene of a vehicle crash in the 1000 block of Henry Street, but what appeared to be a traffic accident quickly revealed itself as a crime scene.
