On July 17, 2016, a violent double homicide shook the community of Saint Joseph, Missouri, claiming the life of 25-year-old Raymond Gonzales Ortiz. The Sunday morning shooting occurred on Safari Drive, where law enforcement officers arrived to find a grisly scene indicative of a targeted attack. Ortiz, a Hispanic male, was discovered alongside another victim, 22-year-old Kevin Villegas-Melendez, inside a van that had been riddled with bullets.
