On the afternoon of August 22, 2021, police in St. Louis, Missouri, were summoned to the Fairground neighborhood following reports of a shooting. Upon arriving at the 4000 block of North Grand Boulevard near Fairground Park, officers discovered the body of a 29-year-old Black male named Cameron Jones lying on the ground. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his back and shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
