On October 11, 2020, police officers in St. Louis, Missouri, were dispatched to the 1300 block of Granville Place following reports of a shooting. Authorities identified the individual as 38-year-old Dwight Hill Jr., a resident of Pagedale.

He was known by several nicknames, including '12 Twin,' 'Dee,' and 'Unc,' and was described as a kind-hearted family man with a laid-back and soft-spoken personality. Hill had attended Fort Zumwalt North and Ranken Technical College, eventually building a career as a plumber. He left behind children and a grieving community that held a vigil where over three thousand virtual candles were lit in his memory.
The investigation into the homicide remained active following the incident, with the St. Louis Regional Crime Stoppers classifying it as an open case. Police sought assistance from the public, urging anyone with information regarding the shooting or potential suspects to come forward anonymously. Despite the appeal for tips, public records did not immediately indicate that any suspects had been taken into custody or charged in connection with his death.
