In a tragic turn of events on the afternoon of June 18, 2025, a dispute inside a home on Milwaukee's north side ended the life of 27-year-old Kimani Smith. The Black/African American male was inside a residence near 42nd Street and Auer Avenue when the argument escalated shortly before 4:30 p.m. The area near 42nd and Concordia was also part of the ensuing investigation as the medical examiner was later seen at a home there.
