On the evening of August 6, 2018, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at Swing Park, nestled under the Holton Street Bridge in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, forever altering the lives of two families. Will Davis, a 17-year-old Black/African American male, was among those present, observing a confrontation that had broken out between two groups at approximately 10:55 p.m. Tragically, he was caught in the crossfire and sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Another man, 22-year-old Cammeron G.
Ealy, was also shot and killed during the incident. Davis was rushed to a local hospital, but succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Will Davis was a rising senior at Brookfield East High School, remembered by his friends for his ever-present smile and positive outlook on life. The incident that claimed his life and that of Ealy, a father to a young daughter, sent shockwaves through the community. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing individuals flee the scene immediately after the shooting.
