On a warm summer evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of 20-year-old Hispanic male Alexis Martinez-Castorena was tragically cut short. On July 24, 2022, Alexis was spending time with his brother and cousin outside his mother's home in the 1500 block of S. 22nd Street. What began as a peaceful conversation between family members soon turned into a fatal encounter.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., two men and a woman who were walking by initiated an altercation with Alexis and his
relatives. The verbal dispute quickly escalated, and the two unidentified men opened fire, shooting both Alexis and his 26-year-old brother. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital, but sadly, Alexis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in the early hours of the following morning. His brother was treated for his injuries and was expected to survive.
In the wake of the shooting, the Milwaukee Police Department launched a homicide investigation. However, the suspects, described only as two men and a woman, fled the scene and have yet to be identified. Law enforcement officials have urged the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest, emphasizing the importance of community assistance in solving the case. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Alexis Martinez-Castorena, leaving his family and community searching for answers and justice.
Alexis, born on September 7, 2001, was remembered as a vibrant young man who enjoyed soccer and spending time with his friends and family. He was a father to a young son. The senseless act of violence that ended his life has left a permanent void in the lives of his loved ones. The investigation into his death remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek those responsible for this tragic loss.
