On May 1, 1992, a 38-year-old man named Lakhbir Banwait began his day in Salt Lake City, Utah, with no indication that it would be his last time seen by those who knew him. Originally from India and traveling on an Australian passport, Mr. Banwait, who also went by the name Lakhbir Singh, was last seen walking to a post office in the downtown area.
