Jack Jason Simmons, 24, was last seen in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 7, 1994. Known by the nickname "Red" due to his long red hair, Jack had lived in Idaho before moving to Utah in 1988. At the time of his disappearance, he was involved with drugs, particularly cocaine and methamphetamine, and had been the victim of a severe assault a month earlier, where he was struck in the head with a hammer. He suffered from amnesia following the attack and was still recovering when he went missing.
