Robby Lynn Peay, a 17-year-old from Provo, Utah, disappeared on October 7, 1982, after escaping from the Youth Diagnostic Center (YDC) in Salt Lake City. Robby had been in trouble with the law for minor offenses since 1978, and at the time of his escape, authorities were considering transferring him to a residential treatment facility, which he strongly opposed. He escaped from the YDC with another boy, who was later located and claimed they parted ways soon after leaving the center.
