Garcia was convicted of two separate double murders committed in 2008 and 2013 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was arrested in July 2013 and went to trial in October 2016, where he was found guilty on all counts and later sentenced to death.

Crimes

Garcia's crimes were driven by a desire for revenge against former colleagues who he believed had wronged him during his medical career. His victims were connected to Creighton University's pathology department, where Garcia had previously worked.

• Thomas Hunter - Age 11, murdered on March 13, 2008, in Omaha, Nebraska. Thomas was the son of Dr. William Hunter, a former colleague of Garcia.
• Shirlee Sherman - Age 57, murdered on March 13, 2008, in Omaha, Nebraska. Shirlee was the housekeeper for the Hunter family.
• Roger Brumback - Age 65, murdered on May 12, 2013, in Omaha, Nebraska. Roger was a former colleague of Garcia at Creighton University.
• Mary Brumback - Age 65, murdered on May 12, 2013, in Omaha, Nebraska. Mary was the wife of Roger Brumback.
