Winifred Corrine Long, aged 30, was last seen on June 10, 1962, in Marysville, California. At the time of her disappearance, she was living in Mill Valley, working as a clerk/typist. Winifred had two young sons with her estranged husband, whom she had separated from two months prior. On the day she vanished, she left home with her one-year-old son, intending to pick up her three-year-old from her husband's ranch near Beale Air Force Base.
Winifred's husband later told authorities that her car broke down at the ranch, and she decided to take a bus home, leaving both children with him. He claimed to have dropped her off at the Greyhound bus station in Marysville. However, no bus ticket to Mill Valley was ever purchased, and Winifred was never seen again. Her vehicle was found at the ranch, but there were no further traces of her.
At the time of her disappearance, Winifred had expressed anxiety about visiting her estranged husband. Her disappearance remains unsolved, and the circumstances surrounding it are still unclear.
