Connor Betts and the 2019 Dayton, Ohio Mass Shooting
Overview
In the early morning of August 4, 2019, 24-year-old Connor Stephen Betts opened fire in Dayton’s Oregon District, a popular nightlife area on East Fifth Street near Ned Peppers and Blind Bob’s. In roughly half a minute, he killed nine people and wounded many others before on-scene Dayton police officers shot and killed him at the doorway of Ned Peppers. Authorities reported that the attack unfolded in about 30–32 seconds; investigators later counted approximately 41 rounds fired by Betts during the assault.

The shooting took place just after 1:00 a.m. along East Fifth Street in the Oregon District—a dense stretch of bars and restaurants—specifically outside and approaching the entrance to Ned Peppers Bar.
