Phyllis Eckert, a 70-year-old resident of Mishawaka, Indiana, was tragically murdered on February 17, 1988. On that fateful night, she left her home at Village Green around 2 a.m. to walk her dog. Shortly after, a witness in the area heard a gunshot and discovered Eckert's body lying on 12th Street near Byrkit. She had been shot multiple times in the lower torso.
