In a tragic turn of events on June 26, 2022, Rhema Harris, a 28-year-old female corrections officer for the St. Joseph County Jail, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Mishawaka, Indiana. Harris, a U.S. Army veteran, was not the intended target of the violence that claimed her life. She was at a friend's house on Milburn Boulevard, attending a cookout, when she was struck by a stray bullet.
