Probation Officer Donald R. "Charley" Knepple, aged 48, tragically lost his life on April 28, 1997, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Knepple, a dedicated probation officer for the Allen County Adult Probation Department, was ambushed and fatally shot by a former juvenile corrections officer at a counseling center on South Calhoun Street.
