On June 25, 2018, police in Fort Wayne, Indiana, were dispatched to a residence in the 9400 block of Greyhawk Drive following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival just past 8:00 p.m., officers discovered 27-year-old White male Brandon Edward Bittner suffering from a gunshot wound to the head inside the home, which is located near the Cherry Hill Golf Club.
Despite the immediate provision of medical care by emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators cordoned off the area, searching both the interior and exterior of the property for evidence while detectives interviewed witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials described the situation as an active investigation, noting that questions remained regarding the specific circumstances of the death. The Allen County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound, though the manner of death was initially listed as pending further investigation.
In the years following the incident, no public records have surfaced indicating the arrest or charging of any suspects in connection with the case. The investigation did not yield immediate answers that were released to the public, and no trial or conviction has been recorded in available sources. Brandon Bittner was survived by his mother, Linda Bricker, and his brother, Steven, who later passed away in 2021.
