On Sunday morning, August 30, 2015, Fort Wayne police were sent to Salisbury Drive near South Anthony Boulevard after a caller reported an unresponsive person covered in blood inside a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found Masadid Ma, 27, male, originally from Thailand, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the first hours after the discovery, investigators could not say why he had been shot or how long he had been inside the vehicle.
Police also said there were no suspects at that time, and they had not located a weapon. The car itself raised questions, too, because authorities had not yet confirmed his relationship to it when the investigation was first described publicly.
As the case moved from an urgent response to a homicide investigation, the Allen County coroner’s office identified the victim and confirmed the manner of death as gunshot wounds. Reports described him as being found on Salisbury Drive in a parked car in southeast Fort Wayne.
Investigators asked anyone with information to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department or Crime Stoppers, signaling that they were still trying to piece together what led to the shooting and who might have been responsible. In the publicly available reporting that identified Ma and summarized the early investigation, no suspect was named and no arrest was announced.
