In the early morning hours of November 23, 2013, the life of 19-year-old Kenneth Mills-Tucker was tragically cut short in a burst of violence on the Northwestside of Indianapolis. A recent graduate of Arsenal Technical High School who was working at U-Haul, Kenneth, known affectionately as 'KJ,' was found by police lying outside of an overturned car that had struck a utility pole.
He had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was rushed to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. He was a male.
The scene on the 4200 block of Moller Road was chaotic. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers in the area had heard the sound of gunfire around 3 a.m. and quickly discovered the wreck. Inside the vehicle with Mills-Tucker had been three other young men: the 20-year-old driver and two other 19-year-old passengers. Two of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, while the fourth was unharmed. Investigators believe the shooting did not happen at the crash site but rather in the parking lot of the nearby Three Fountains West apartments. It is thought that after the shots were fired, the group attempted to flee the scene in the car before crashing.
In the wake of the shooting, police began an investigation into the circumstances that led to Kenneth Mills-Tucker's death.
