William Thomas Ukiah Duncan was 37 years old when he was last seen on May 27, 2012, near Dry Creek in Anaconda, Montana. His disappearance has left his loved ones with unanswered questions and a void that cannot be filled. At the time he went missing, he was living in Billings, Montana, having moved there from Anaconda several years prior. Friends and family describe him as an experienced outdoorsman and survivalist, someone who was capable of living in the wilderness for extended periods. It was not unusual for him to venture into the mountains for months at a time, but he had a consistent habit of informing his loved ones of his plans before he left. In this instance, he left no note and did not tell anyone where he was going.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are unsettling. His family officially reported him missing on June 19, 2012, after not hearing from him for several weeks.
By the time the report was made, his truck had already been discovered abandoned on Dry Creek Road for at least three weeks. This location is situated past the Mount Haggin Wildlife Management area, off Mill Creek Road. The discovery of his unoccupied vehicle without any sign of him nearby was the first indication that something was amiss. His cell phone, which was not found in his truck, has not been answered since he was last seen.
In the wake of his disappearance, extensive searches were conducted in the rugged terrain surrounding Dry Creek where his truck was found. Despite the thorough efforts of search teams, no trace of William was ever located. The absence of any clues, combined with the fact that he deviated from his usual practice of notifying his family of his whereabouts, has led investigators to consider his disappearance suspicious. The case remains unsolved, leaving a painful uncertainty for his family and friends. The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Agency continues to hold the case open, hopeful that one day they will be able to provide answers to those who are still waiting for news of William.Last Seen: May 27, 2012
