After hearing the persistent fighting, she grew concerned and went to the couple's part of the house to check on them. There, she made a horrifying discovery: her daughter had been shot multiple times. In the midst of this scene were her granddaughter and Victor Marquez.
Reacting quickly, Renata's mother grabbed the young girl and fled the house to call 911. When law enforcement arrived, they found Victor Marquez had turned the gun on himself in a failed suicide attempt. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
