Jeffrey Brady Westerfield, a 47-year-old patrolman with the Gary Police Department, was tragically killed on July 6, 2014, which was also his birthday. Westerfield was found shot to death in his patrol car on 26th Avenue near Van Buren Place in Gary, Indiana. A citizen discovered his body at approximately 5:50 am and called 911.
