Deon Stewart, 36, a Black male, was found shot to death before dawn on July 31, 2025, in the parking lot of the Village Shopping Center in Gary, Indiana. Gary officers reported hearing bursts of gunfire around 3:45 a.m. near 35th Avenue and Grant Street; moments later, bystanders flagged them down beside an SUV in the lot at 3596 Village Court.
