On a fall afternoon in Indianapolis, Indiana, a 33-year-old Black man named Gary Dickerson Jr. was fatally shot on October 31, 2014. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Washington Boulevard on the city's near north side, where Dickerson was found lying in the street.
According to reports, Dickerson was in an SUV with two women and a small child. He exited the vehicle to speak with a group of men. It was during this conversation that the shooting took place.
The two women and the child who were inside the SUV were not harmed.
