In the pre-dawn hours of March 4, 2025, a dispute over loud music in a quiet Indianapolis neighborhood turned fatal, claiming the life of 57-year-old Ralph McCraig, a white male. The incident unfolded around 5:30 a.m. in the 9300 block of Kingsboro Court, located in the Lawrence area. Officers from the Lawrence Police Department responded to the scene and discovered McCraig lying in the street with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
The suspected shooter, a neighbor of McCraig's, remained at the scene and was reported to be cooperating with investigators. Ralph McCraig was born on November 9, 1967, in Stuttgart, Germany. A 1985 graduate of Lawrence North High School, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Indiana University. McCraig served his country in the U.S. Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He later worked for Chrysler in Kokomo for six years. Neighbors remembered him as a friendly person with a consistent daily routine.
