In the early morning hours of November 26, 2021, the life of 24-year-old Dezmond King, a male resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, was tragically cut short. Responding to a report of a person shot at a northwest side apartment complex in the 5800 block of Sebring Court, near West 59th Street and Georgetown Road, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers discovered King outside, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
For over two years, the investigation into King's death continued, a painful period of uncertainty for his loved ones and the community. In a significant breakthrough, authorities publicly named 29-year-old Terri Young-Moses as the man they believed to be responsible for Dezmond King's death. On January 30, 2024, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office formally filed a series of grave charges against Terri Young-Moses in connection with the 2021 shooting. The charges included murder, armed robbery, criminal recklessness, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. The following day, while still in custody, Young-Moses was served with an arrest warrant for these new charges, officially marking the beginning of the legal proceedings against him for the death of Dezmond King.
