On the evening of August 3, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of East 35th Street on the city's east side. Upon arrival, they discovered 59-year-old Juan Rodriguez suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Mr. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
