On the night of April 13, 2024, Adesina David Aderinwoye, a 53-year-old delivery driver, was shot and killed while on the job in Indianapolis. A native of Nigeria who had moved to Indiana, Aderinwoye was working for the delivery service Gopuff and had just dropped off diapers at a home on East 42nd Street. Shortly after completing the delivery, just before midnight, he was shot in a nearby alley.
Neighbors reported hearing the gunshots, and one resident's home was struck by a stray
bullet. When they looked outside, they saw Aderinwoye lying in the street. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene, and Aderinwoye was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His family described him as a jovial and peace-loving man who did not drink, smoke, or cause trouble, leaving them baffled as to why he would be targeted.
As of now, the investigation into the murder of the male victim is ongoing. Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made in the case. Aderinwoye's family has made public pleas for anyone with information to come forward to help bring his killer to justice. They are left grappling with the senseless loss of a loved one who was simply doing his job.
