On the night of Wednesday, November 6, 2024, law enforcement officials in Indianapolis, Indiana, were alerted to reports of gunshots on the city’s near east side. Around 11:30 p.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the 1200 block of East Washington Street, an area situated just east of Interstate 65. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel assessed the
individual at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. The Marion County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 24-year-old Airron Lemont Green. Preliminary information suggested that Green had been in the area visiting friends when the shooting occurred.
Investigators from the IMPD Homicide Office launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. As of the initial reports following the shooting, police had not released information regarding a potential motive or identified any suspects involved in the slaying. Authorities urged anyone with knowledge of the event to contact the department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. No arrests have been reported in connection with the case.
