In the early hours of Sunday, April 10, 2022, a birthday celebration on the northwest side of Indianapolis turned into a scene of violence, leaving 24-year-old Belansky Fanord dead and five others wounded. The tragic event unfolded at a banquet hall in the 4200 block of West 38th Street, where a festive gathering was taking place.
Sometime around 3:15 a.m., a fight broke out inside the venue. The altercation escalated and spilled outside, where gunfire erupted.
When officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the chaotic scene, they discovered Fanord inside the building with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to Fanord, five other individuals—four men and one woman, ranging in age from 21 to 37—were injured in the shooting. Their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. Three of the wounded were located by police at the event center, while the other two transported themselves to local hospitals.
Despite the number of witnesses present at the birthday party, the immediate investigation did not lead to any arrests. Authorities with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting that claimed the life of Belansky Fanord. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and law enforcement has urged anyone with information to come forward.
