In the late hours of March 22, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Davieon Martin was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of North State Avenue on the city's near east side shortly after 10 p.m. following a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Martin inside a multi-unit home, suffering from at least one apparent gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate response from law enforcement and medics, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity and determined the cause of death to be a homicide resulting from the gunshot wounds.
In the wake of the shooting, homicide detectives began an investigation, and the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency was called in to process the scene for potential evidence. However, details regarding a possible motive or any person of interest have not been publicly disclosed.
