In the late hours of a Monday night in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, the life of Tev Jerod Mungo, a 31-year-old male from Pittsburgh, was tragically cut short. Just before 11 p.m. on February 26, 2024, gunfire erupted outside a residence in the 800 block of Lookout Avenue. When the Charleroi Regional Police arrived at the scene, they discovered Mungo lying on the sidewalk.
He was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 30 minutes after the shooting.
The investigation, which was subsequently turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police, revealed a chaotic and violent scene. Investigators found that at least a dozen shots had been fired, with some bullets striking two nearby homes. Fortunately, no one else was reported injured in the incident. Witnesses in the area reported hearing as many as 20 gunshots, a testament to the intensity of the event. Police later recovered different caliber shell casings from the scene, suggesting the possible involvement of multiple firearms.
In the immediate aftermath, authorities executed search warrants for at least three residences on Lookout Avenue. These searches led to the discovery of a handgun, additional shell casings, and clothing. Despite these early steps in the investigation, law enforcement officials have not yet publicly identified any suspects. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting of Tev Jerod Mungo. State police have described the shooting as an 'isolated incident' and have stated that they are actively conducting interviews and working to identify the person or persons responsible for his death.
