In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Indianapolis, tragedy struck a young family. On June 25, 2023, 25-year-old Bomani Marsh, a Black male known to many as Boi, was fatally shot on the near northwest side of the city. The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. in the 2700 block of Doctor M.L.K. Jr Street, near West 27th Street. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot and found Bomani with apparent gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. The Marion County Coroner's Office later officially identified him.
Bomani, born on June 20, 1998, was a father of four who was remembered for his giving soul and his devotion to his family and friends. He had a passion for art, a talent that was seen as his true calling. His death was one of two separate fatal shootings that occurred in Indianapolis on the same night, leaving the community reeling from the violence.
In the wake of the shooting, homicide detectives from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department began an investigation. However, details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting and any potential suspects have not been released to the public. The police have appealed to the community for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. As of late 2025, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Bomani Marsh, and his case remains unsolved, leaving his loved ones to grapple with the unanswered questions surrounding his untimely death.
