In the autumn of 1962, the life of a renowned blues guitarist, Francis Hillman 'Scrapper' Blackwell, came to a tragic and abrupt end in Indianapolis, Indiana. On October 7, 1962, the 59-year-old musician was discovered in an alley situated behind a residence at 527 West 17th Street, suffering from a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries the following day. At the time of his death, Blackwell was experiencing a renewed surge in his musical career.
