On June 17, 2020, Indianapolis police were called to a chaotic scene on the city's northeast side that would eventually be classified as a double homicide. Around 1:30 a.m., officers arrived at the 4600 block of North Bolton Avenue, near 46th Street and Arlington Avenue, responding to reports of a vehicle crash and potential gunfire. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a car that had veered off the road and crashed through a line of trees.
Near the wreckage, investigators found two
male victims who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. One of these men was identified as 20-year-old Black male Corhon Williams. The second victim, also a male, was found deceased at the scene alongside Williams. Police reports from the time indicated that the crash itself may have been a result of the violence, as the vehicle appeared to have left the roadway during the incident.
Detectives at the scene found evidence suggesting that a third individual might have been involved in the altercation but had fled before police arrived. The search for this unaccounted person became a part of the initial investigation. The discovery of Williams and the second victim occurred during a particularly violent 24-hour window in Indianapolis, during which five people were killed in separate incidents across the city.
In the months and years following the discovery on Bolton Avenue, no specific suspects were publicly named or charged in direct connection with the death of Corhon Williams. While police in Indianapolis have investigated other individuals with the surname Williams for unrelated homicides and violent crimes in the subsequent years, public records and crime databases listed the status of Corhon Williams's case as unsolved.
