Jerrold “Jerry” Strege, a 43-year-old prison guard at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin, was last seen on September 23, 2002. Strege had been employed at the prison for 25 years and was known to be an avid golfer, scheduled to compete in a tournament the weekend of October 5-6, 2002. However, he never appeared at the event, raising concerns about his whereabouts.

His disappearance was reported by his father on October 9, 2002, after multiple failed attempts to contact him. When his father visited Jerry’s apartment, it was found unlocked with the lights and television still on, tuned to the Golf Channel. Strege's wallet, keys, cell phone, and personal items were all left behind, and his car and motorcycle were still parked in the garage. The only thing missing was his gun.

At the time of his disappearance, Strege had been facing personal challenges, including a recent drunk driving arrest and fears of losing his job. Additionally, Strege had reportedly never fully recovered from a traumatic prison riot in 1983 where he was held hostage and tortured. Despite extensive searches in the surrounding Waupun area and a lack of activity on his bank accounts, no significant clues to his fate have surfaced.

Strege’s case remains unsolved, and authorities have not ruled out any possibilities, including foul play, suicide, or voluntary disappearance.
