In the early hours of a cold Tuesday morning in January 2015, the life of 25-year-old Dustin Mitchell Houghton was tragically cut short in a violent encounter on the west side of Indianapolis. Houghton, a male resident of the city, was discovered inside a car on North Sheffield Avenue around 4 a.m. on January 20th, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Another man was found injured on the porch of a nearby home, a testament to the brutality of the event that had transpired.
The subsequent investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department swiftly led them to a residence on Creston Drive. There, a tense standoff ensued with two individuals, ultimately ending with their peaceful surrender to the awaiting SWAT team. The two men were identified as 19-year-old Diondre Jeter and 21-year-old Deandre Brown. Prosecutors formally charged both Jeter and Brown with murder and robbery in connection with the death of Dustin Houghton.
