On July 20, 2015, authorities in Indianapolis, Indiana, were called to investigate a fatal shooting on the city's northeast side that claimed the life of 16-year-old Bryvonte Lee. The incident occurred during a transaction involving the sale of a shotgun, which Lee had reportedly arranged to sell for $100. During the exchange, a dispute arose regarding the price of the weapon, leading to a violent confrontation in which the teenager was shot and killed.
Following the homicide
investigation, police identified and arrested two suspects believed to be connected to the crime: Demetrius Woodson and Devon Pullins. Investigators alleged that the pair had met with Lee to purchase the firearm when the altercation turned deadly. Both men were initially charged with murder and robbery as prosecutors built a case around the theory that the shooting resulted from the disagreement over the transaction terms.
The legal proceedings, however, did not result in a murder conviction for either suspect. Charges against Devon Pullins were dismissed approximately three months after the shooting, with prosecutors dropping the case against him before it reached a trial verdict. Demetrius Woodson proceeded to trial, where he faced charges related to Lee’s death. Ultimately, a Marion County jury acquitted Woodson of all charges connected to the homicide. While Pullins later faced legal issues and convictions for unrelated crimes, including armed robbery in subsequent years, no one was criminally convicted for the death of Bryvonte Lee.
