In the winter of 2018, the life of 26-year-old Derick Daniels, a Black male from Indianapolis, was tragically cut short. On the evening of January 15th, violence erupted on the city's northeast side, leaving Daniels fatally wounded. He was discovered inside a parked black car on Hampshire Court, near the intersection of 42nd Street and Post Road, having succumbed to at least one gunshot wound.
The grim discovery was made after another individual, who had also sustained multiple gunshot
wounds in the same incident, managed to find police officers on Post Road and alert them to the shooting. When investigators arrived at the scene in front of an apartment complex, they found Daniels unresponsive in the driver's seat.
