On a summer evening in Indianapolis, the life of 26-year-old Ryan Philip Gallet, a White male, was tragically cut short. On July 12, 2015, Gallet was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound in the 1200 block of 33rd Street around 7:45 p.m.. His body was found on a walking path that leads to a footbridge, a route he was believed to be taking to meet someone he had just spoken with on the phone.
The discovery launched a homicide investigation into the untimely death of the Greenfield resident.
Earlier that day, hours before his body was found, Ryan was involved in a physical altercation. Surveillance footage from a Marathon gas station, recorded around 12:15 p.m., captured another man throwing punches at him. Following the incident, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released images from this footage to the public in an effort to identify and question the man, believing he might have crucial information about the events that led to Ryan's death.
Despite the public plea for information and the release of the surveillance footage, the investigation into Ryan Philip Gallet's murder has not led to any arrests. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers, but no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the homicide. Years after his death, his case remains an open and unsolved investigation, leaving his family and community searching for answers and justice.
